That's right! If your resume has an objective listed, then I object. Your professional resume should never incorporate an objective statement. See, employers aren't interested in reading something like this, "I'm looking to align with a progressive company where I can utilize my skills and knowledge, earn a good salary, and move up the ladder."
Let's say you owned a small business with 20 employees and your business is rapidly growing. Your Sales Manager just accepted another job. If you were reading hundreds of resumes, would you be impressed with these "objective" statements? No, you would not.
At that point you really don't care about "John Doe" who is looking to align with a progressive company and earn a good salary. You're looking for someone who is an experienced sales manager and can come in and hit the ground running and preserve your company's sales. You don't care what the job candidates want, you're up against the wall and you need help fast. You're not interested in someone else's needs.
If your resume has a career objective or something similar that states what you are looking for, consider removing it at once!! The fact that you are searching for a new position should not revolve around "what you want," but should be focused on what you can do for the company and the value you bring to the table.
That's why I object to your objective, and so will the employers!
